Glass blower for 5 years in Trélon, Emmy will surprise you! Surprising and sparkling, she will share with you the magic of handling molten glass.
What is your story?
After a BAC L, I continued my studies in the visual arts with the idea of becoming an illustrator. To my great surprise, it was the sculpture classes that appealed to me. I liked creating objects in volume, especially with fabric and wool. Naturally, after my degree, I did some research on craft professions. I found the job of glass blower really by chance! Other professions really appealed to me: seamstress and cabinetmaker, ceramist, etc.!
I met a lampworker who introduced me to glass in the form of beads and I was immediately amazed by the material, the gestures and the world of an artisan's workshop! So I went to visit a school in Lorraine, I applied and I was accepted! After my diploma, I couldn't find a workshop to work in. I had almost come to the point of having one more reason to be a glass blower when, at the end of 2017, the Avesnois ecomuseum contacted me! Since then, I've been doing what I love every day: learning to work with glass!
Your greatest pride ?
My greatest pride is to have always been able to listen to my desires each time an opportunity presented itself in my academic or professional career. The courses that I chose are quite atypical but thanks to my determination I was able to learn what fascinated me without regrets; theater, visual arts and now glass. I didn't hesitate to settle in an unknown (and magnificent) region to work there!
And I don't plan to stop there... Being curious in many other areas, I'm sure that glass blowing is not my only vocation.
What do you want to leave to your children?
What I would like to leave to my children is not something material but a thought, a feeling. What I found great during my adolescence and even now is that my parents always encouraged me in my fantasies and hobbies. This family security has brought me a lot. I had a certain freedom in my choices, which not everyone necessarily has within their loved ones, and this allowed me to develop my creativity.
So this is what I will bequeath to my children: the freedom to make their choices so that they flourish in their world!
