In the Petit family, here is the youngest, Emilie. Daughter of Tata Bibique, her mother's nickname, born in 1988, she claims her land and peasant roots and takes us to “Au P'tit Coin de Campagne”.

What is your story?

Since I was little, I have been lulled by the farm atmosphere. My farmer parents passed on their know-how to me and then I obtained a BTS in Tourism. Supervisor for 6 years in schools in Maubeuge and Ferrière-la-Grande, I also traveled the roads of Avesnois to raise awareness of oral care in schools. It is through these two experiences that I affirmed my desire to work in contact with children. Three years ago we joined the network “Savoir Vert – Tell me about the farm” to develop an educational farm.

What is an educational farm?

I welcome classes from Kindergarten to High School all year round. I present the farm's activities using interpretation panels. We pass through the farmyard, the goat farm, the rabbit hutches... Then come the workshops. It's what the children prefer. I explain to them where the milk in their fridge comes from, how we make bread and even the vegetables from the vegetable garden. When we question them, we sometimes have quite a laugh, like butter is oil or rabbits are born in eggs. This is where I realize the importance of this activity. Informing, raising awareness and teaching younger generations is essential.

What are your upcoming projects?

I also welcome those who wish to celebrate their birthday on the farm. I offer activities for individuals and families. For businesses, I can offer a seminar room. I want to develop all of this.

And during the summer, we will restart the maze in a cornfield. It's very fun and families love getting lost there, answering the puzzles in the treasure hunt. In short, there is always something to do at “Au P’tit Coin de Campagne”.
