A sharing smile, a skillful gesture, a passion for a living material that is constantly reinventing itself. “Tour de mains” and its pretty potter, a meeting full of emotions…
How did this project come about?
My mother was a farmer, she had her hands in the land and a taste for processing products. Is this what brought me closer to this passion for pottery? Probably a little anyway. I have always had this desire to create, to make. At first, it was a craftsman's house project. And then I myself signed up for workshops at potters court museum in Ferrière-la-Petite, for a year, almost every Saturday. I perfected my skills by following courses at the Douai art school.
What is your specialty?
In 2016, I opened my shop in this charming little village of Floursies. “Tour de mains” welcomes the creations of a dozen local artisans. Raku, jewelry, bags and hot water bottles… Naturally I exhibited my own creations there. I particularly like tableware. Through hard work and perseverance I now manage to shoot what I imagine, according to my desires. At the moment I am working on mixing materials. I do tests, trials around the alloy between earth and glass. Sometimes it’s the “tarte tatin” effect. An oversight, an error can cause real artistic surprises.
Where can we find your creations?
The store is open all year round and I participate in trade shows and exhibitions. This summer, I will be at Féron’Arts, near Fourmies, during the weekend of August 15. You can also find my plates and bowls on the tables of two restaurants in Avesnois, the Carillon in Liessies and Maison Aubépine in Sains-du-Nord.
Finally, getting to Floursies is not very complicated, it is between Avesnes and Maubeuge, on the Dourlers side. A quick phone call before stopping by and I will be delighted to welcome you.
